About Daniel

Daniel Raaflaub began his musical training at an early age in the choir school of the Knabenkantorei Basel, where he gained valuable experience as a choral singer and soloist. In the artistic metropolis of Vienna, he studied singing, acting and dance at the renowned University of Music and Performing Arts and attended various master classes. Over the past 15 years, Daniel Raaflaub has performed in musicals, plays and concerts in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. With leading roles in productions such as Chess, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar and RENT, he has established himself as a versatile artist.

Today, Daniel Raaflaub is a sought-after vocal teacher and guest lecturer and is engaged as a vocal coach in numerous projects and choirs in Switzerland and abroad. As a stage director and choreographer in Switzerland (e.g. Knabenkantorei Basel, OYENGA Gospelchor am Münster Basel) and internationally (e.g. Vox Aurea in Finland, Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir in California, Kristina Academy Children’s Choir in Kenya), he successfully creates musical dramaturgies that inspire and excite. «Thank you again for designing such a compelling interpretation of the music. As I have been rehearsing the choreography over the past week, I am increasingly grateful for your brilliance in putting this together. The movements are so powerfully effective, easy to teach and execute while singing, and (best of all for me!) give the singers gestures in which they have space for interpretation and personal involvement. It's truly superb and has made me see new possibilities in the music that I hadn't imagined while writing it - bravo!»

«The Gospel Night at the Minster is an impressive experience. The Oyenga Choir makes the music visible. The creative choreographies wonderfully enhance the singing, and the transitions between the pieces are remarkably diverse.»

«Thank you thank you thank you!!! Your choreographies were a total success de luxe. You should have seen the reactions of the audience! Everybody was crying and laughing and later on they said that it was a whole body experience! In the newspaper your choreographies were mentioned and in the net-paper that was the headline – the reason to come to the concert. THANK YOU!»

«It was a true pleasure and blessing meeting you all! Your performance was outstanding and the singers' commitment to choreographies was something I've never seen before, particularly when performed by young males. I wish the finnish boys' choir conductors had seen it - or actually I wish every choral conductor everywhere should see it! There is something deeply touching in what you're doing and as an educator I couldn't respect you more for your pure-hearted educational vision.»
